Thank you for reading this.

May you succeed at finding a tutor who fits the bill...even if it is not me.

I'm Lynn E. (sometimes Miss Lynn, other times "Lynnix").

I am a certified credentialed English Language Arts TEACHER, PAINTER, POET, PERFORMER, WORLD TRAVELER!

I have worked for 15 YEARS in education (K-12, special education, at risk youth)
mostly at the private tutorial level (at schools, small businesses, private homes, and even at a jail.).

JAIL?! Seriously? Yes.

The range of demographics that I can (and have) worked with amongst my students is testimony to my success rate.

I have so many students (who are now in college) that still contact me not simply for tutoring but for MENTORING.

My passion is not simply limited to the textbook, but HOW THE SUBJECT RELATES TO LIFE in a practical way...yes, even with the elementary school kids!

You are reading this because you want to better your education or the education for your child.

That said, you are seeking this website as a solution to thinking outside the box of the school that you or he/she attends.

You are seeking that ADDED RICHNESS to what it truly means to be a student of knowledge... KNOWledge.

To know. To understand.

I firmly teach with the pillar of Learning.
What does that mean? It means I teach students not simply the subject; I teach them HOW TO LEARN.

With my background, funky quirk of a personality that is both disciplined and sensitive at the same time of being fun,
I will help you succeed as I have been doing for 15 years and more...

Artistic, a singer, an actor/performer, and world traveler I offer a unique perspective that not many tutors can pull off.

It would be my pleasure to join and assist you in your Journey.

ACT English

I have a credential to teach English Language Arts and Literature. I have taught/tutored for over 15 years and currently hold a position as a tutor in a private tutorial business in Granada Hills.

I have and still work with K-12, especially elementary and middle school. I also have worked with at-risk students and special needs students. I love love working as a tutor and attending to my students' particular individual needs.

I tutor in such a way that the subject is relevant to life and current events (often that part is overlooked from teachers who have to spread themselves too thin for oversized classes). Not the case with my style of tutoring.

American History

I am a credentialed teacher graduated from CSUN. I have tutored and taught American history as a substitute teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District. I have substitute taught in many of the middle schools in the area and I have a strong understanding of cause and effect, have a gentle and jovial way of simplifying difficult concepts, and genuinely enjoy teaching (15 years and still going).

Being the daughter of registered nurse and also being a caretaker for my father (stroke/heart surgery), along with being a credentialed teacher, I am well equipped to understand anatomy and how the body and how it functions. I have been an educator for 15 years, and I am a teacher that knows how to simplify difficult concepts. My artistic skills and congenial personality make learning sciences easier to understand. Can't wait to help you.

When I attended CSUN I minored in anthropology. I also received my credential to be a certified teacher. I love cultures from all around the world and am myself a world traveler. I understand major theoretic concepts as I had majored in religion and can articulate well because I teach English language arts. I break down concepts into visual elements to help understand them easier. I'd love to tutor you.

I graduated CSUN with a minor in anthropology. Archaeology is a cousin to "anthro" and having not only been fascinated by it, I studied it as part of my course work. I am also an educator (15 years) and a credentialed teacher. I love studying evolution and how environment affects life and culture. I myself have traveled to over 15 different countries and cities. I frequent the PBS stations that show the episodes on archaeological dig sites. I'd love to combine all my skills to help you understand the concepts.

Bible Studies

Having majored in religious studies, attending 12 years of private school, and having still studied the Bible today, I can tell you that I am very familiar with the text as a prayerful tool and historical tool. I am also a credentialed English teacher with 15 years of tutoring and teaching experience. Would love to help in this way.

Elementary (K-6th)

I'm a credentialed English language arts teacher. I have taught and tutored for 15 years with most of my emphasis on elementary and middle school education. I currently work at a private tutor in the area and have had one-on-one sessions with ages K-6th. Beside English, I tutor in history, social studies, basic math, and art, as well as science.

I have a credential to teach English Language Arts and Literature. I have taught/tutored for over 15 years and currently hold a position as a tutor in a private tutor.

I have guided students to have better grades in vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills (in essays, reports, and personal papers). In-depth analysis and rich creative descriptive writing is a main focus of mine.

European History

I'm a credentialed teacher, having taught and tutored for over 15 years. I have subbed in and out of LAUSD and am a world traveler to many European countries. I offer an in-depth approach to studying the European History having first hand experience. While I hold a credential in English, the concepts of understanding cause and effect and the nature/repercussions of such choices is paralleled within history too. Would love to help out.

I love maps. It is like art to me. I love studying about geography and the environment and the evolution that takes place on it. I love teaching and have been teaching/tutoring for 15 years. I also hold a credential. I have traveled to so many different man-made and natural-made wonders of the world and offer a strong influence on students studying this subject. I break down concepts easily and as an artist I study the earth intensively in my work. I am well articulated as I teach English as well, and therefore can help happily simplify difficult concepts.

I hold a credential to teach English Language Arts and Literature. I have been an educator for over 15 years and currently work as a one-on-one private tutor.

Within English Grammar, I use workbooks and practice sentences that teach and locate the parts of speech and the logical flow of language (for K-12). I emphasize the use of descriptive and comprehensive vocabulary that focuses on complex and analytical writing (for middle/high school).

Having taught and tutored for over 15 years in the field of English language arts and being a poet, an actor, and an avid reader, I can tell you that literature is one of my favorite things. I teach writing workshops to students and adults. I understand motivation and plot, along with character analysis and theme. I currently teach English, so I know I would be great for you.

Because I have taught English language arts - especially phonics - for the last 15 years, I am well equipped to educated with fantastic results in my students. I am calm and gentle, and enunciated when teaching phonics. I used little games and concepts to help my students understand and memorize the sounds of words. I would be happy to help you.

Physiology has everything to do with many parts, not just one. Because I am the daughter of a nurse and a caretaker for my father, who suffered a stroke, I helped him greatly with helping him to walk again. I understand how the body functions and am a practicer of multiple exercises of the body, from yoga, pilates, regular running and the like. As for the theoretical aspect of physiology, I am a teacher (over 15 years) who understands the concepts of connection and function of an organism.

Public Speaking

I am a teacher with over 15 years of experience. I am a spoken word poet/actor performer with over 20 years of experience in and around of Los Angeles. I have coached students who were nervous to speak publicly, and they did brilliantly. I make it a point to understand the theme/concept of the subject being spoken about and find those key element to use the voice and inflection of the voice for great emphasis and reception. I'd be a great coach/teacher for you.

I teach English language arts. I am a credentialed English teacher with 15 years of experience. I currently work as a private tutor and teach students how to become an active reader. I offer concepts that help my students retain the information more coherently. These concepts are easy and fun and give my students a much needed confidence-booster. As a person who used to have a hard time with comprehension, who ironically became a good English teacher, I can tell you that I have a strong sympathy and a hungry need to build up the good reader skill in anyone.

My major in college was in religious studies. Religion fascinates me. I also hold a credential in English language arts; therefore, I have a keen sense of how the larger and more cryptic concepts of religious doctrine express themselves through ritual, song, scripture, dress, food, etcetera. I have taught for over 15 years and have to many of the religious sites of the world, from India to Italy, and my library is extensive with multiple religious doctrine and philosophy. It is indeed a fascinating subject.

As a singer for a spoken word band, as a collaborative actor, and a songstress on the guitar, I have written many songs that I have performed and uplifted. I know that songs, like John Lennon once said, must be written so that even a middle schooler would understand. That is to say, it ought to be simple. Simplicity is a major concept I teach when it comes to writing in my English classes. With 15 years experience, a credential, and a whole lot of passion, I'd love to work with you.

Study Skills

I am a credentialed English Language teacher with 15 years of experience. When I teach students I tutor them with the aim that I'm teaching not just the subject, but I'm teaching them how to learn.

Study skills comes through organization, use of diagrams, visuals, auditory props, and even physical activity (like stretching, breathing, use of instruments) all help my students focus on their subjects in alternative ways that help boost confidence. There is no single way to study; there are numerous ways and when all the senses are involved the information is retained at a greater capacity.

As a teacher who once worked as a theatre director, as an actor and performance poet who has performed for over 10 years, I can tell you that I can boost morale, confidence, expression, and passion to do a great performance. I have mostly worked in and around a Los Angeles. Because I also hold a credential in English language arts, when I teach I am already very theatric. I have been in education for over 15 years and I'd love to work on "breaking a leg."

I'm a credentialed English language arts teacher with over 15 years in education. I am constantly teaching the importance of the magical book called the thesaurus! As a result, many of my students have improved their writing based on a new found passion to be descriptive with their vocabulary. They did not know they had the "writer" within them, but I helped them find it and would love to help navigate that for you too! Also, I am a performance poet and songwriter, so vocabulary is ultra important to sounding unique.

World History

I'm a credentialed teacher with over 15 years of experience. While my credential is in English, I know how to glean the concepts of cause and effect and the repercussions of such choices made by the leaders of the world. Because I have traveled to many countries around the world and visited historical sites, I offer a richer experience not only as a teacher, but a traveler of the world who has visited these places of antiquity.

I currently teach writing. I'm a credentialed English language arts teacher with over 15 years of experience in education. I have easy concepts and notes that are not only simple, but also funny that help all my students improve their skills as a writer. I myself am a poet and performer with my own songs, so being a very articulate writer that can explain difficult or passionate concepts in a simple way are paramount to being understood. Many of my students have experienced improved grades in English, which has bled over into their other subjects as well.

I have been practicing Kundalini and Vinyasa yoga for over 10 years. One of my closes friends is a yoga teacher with a masters in kinesiology and when I have concerns to make my flow better I look to her. I have worked with children in after school gyms as well as with my own students with breathing techniques to improve their ability to calm the mind and still the voices, so as to study well.
