My name is Kelsey and I absolutely positively love English and Language Arts! I love it so much that I went to California State University, Los Angeles and received my Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis on writing and literature. This enthusiasm for the subject in school has translated into private tutoring outside of school for over 3 years.
Now I know English/Language Arts isn’t something that everyone loves, and some people even have trouble with it. But that’s why I’m here!
I have experience teaching children, teens, and adults to read, write, and speak English effectively. In addition to this, I have experience teaching English as a second language. Since I have taught a variety of students from the very young to the mature, I know that the same lesson plan doesn’t work for everyone. With an Associate of Arts in Social and Behavioral Sciences, I also know that not everyone learns the same way. There’s a difference between auditory learners and kinesthetic learners and so my teaching style is adaptable to what the student needs.
I’ve been tutoring privately for over three years now and I know that enthusiasm is contagious. I emphasize the fact that learning can be fun. I work hard to ensure that my confidence in the student translates to confidence in themselves. They can learn this and be successful. I work hard to help them realize it.
My philosophy is this: everyone can learn.
On the Elementary level I’m comfortable with tutoring in all areas. High School and Middle School I focus primarily on English (I love essays) and History (although I am also comfortable in tutoring elementary French). With specializations in homework and laughs, I would love to help you (or your child) realize your own ability to learn. I look forward to working with you!
