I believe tutoring can be very rewarding for both the tutor and the student, with an opportunity to learn in a unique manner. I try to meet each student where they are and adjust myself to their individual needs.

My strongest subjects are reading, grammar, and mathematics; things I have always loved from childhood. Thanks to my parents' encouragement, I got involved in reading books from an early age. From a lot of exposure to good literature, I learned to imitate and internalize clear and articulate ways of thinking, and get a solid foundation for recognizing good quality English. I also can tutor Latin, which I studied for 4 years in High School and with which I have kept up some exposure and additional study afterwards.

I have completed upper division college courses, including 4 quarters of calculus. Currently I work part-time at a Math tutoring center where I get to work with students of varying age, ability, and learning styles. I find it rewarding to see the students succeed and progress in their learning.

I am currently planning to go back to school (Fall 2011) to complete a degree in Classics and Religious Studies. Other areas of personal interest and reading include history of cultures and languages.

Rather than merely filling our minds with facts, I believe education should seek the development of the whole person leading toward maturity of character.

With me as your tutor, you will have fun studying the mother language of European civilization and improve your own native grammar skills while you do it!

Great Tutor - very professional! We highly recommend him — Although Joseph's specialty is math, he is also an excellent LATIN tutor. He worked with our high school son over the summer to prepare him for Pre-Calc and Latin III in the fall. Our son's Latin comprehension has improved quite a bit and it takes him less time to complete his homework. Our son enjoyed working with Joseph and we appreciated the care that Joseph puts into the tutoring sessions. ...
