Hello! My name is Tom and my specialty is test preparation. During the 2011-2012 school year, I tutored over 50 students to help them prepare for standardized tests. More than 30 of those were for SAT and ACT tests. The other 20 were for tests including the ASVAB, CBEST, GRE, GMAT, GED, and AP Computer Science. In addition to my individual tutoring, I also teach SAT preparation classes in a group setting at a learning center. On a daily basis I am helping students understand how to successfully answer all the types of questions that appear on these tests, and I look forward to helping you do the same.
Since you're reviewing my profile, you're obviously considering hiring a tutor. Please consider the following. Every athlete at the Olympics has a coach to help him or her achieve top performance. If you have a test coming up and you're not feeling fully confident about your readiness to score as high as you'd like to, you can improve your own performance by working with a coach (tutor). But don't hire just anyone. If you wanted to learn to swim faster, you wouldn't ask a tennis coach to help you. Similarly, if you want to learn to score higher on a test, look for someone who specializes in helping students prepare for tests.
I have a Master's Degree in Computer Science from USC, so I have a strong technical/mathematical background. In high school I won a California state championship in English skills, and during the years since, I have written and proofread countless documents. This combination of technical and non-technical skills allows me to help students in all test sections. I have always done very well at taking standardized tests and now I get the opportunity to share my test-taking strategies with others, to help them achieve their best as well.
In January, 2013, WyzAnt recognized me as one of their top 50 tutors in the entire country for 2012 (out of over 60,000 tutors). I have the knowledge and experience to help you achieve your best possible results. Over the past year I have helped dozens of students, and I look forward to the opportunity to help you also.
