With 11 years of private teaching experience under my belt, I have discovered that it is truly a love and passion of mine to aid students in reaching their best potential, creating and achieving goals, and developing a sense of self confidence so that they can independently continue in a lifelong journey of education and the pursuit of their passions. My performing history
as an actress, singer, pianist, and voice over artist developed from my own passion of continuing education. Coupled with my work record in the public school district as a special needs
paraprofessional, as an office manager, and the owner of my own music
studio for 10 years, these experiences have given me a large skill set that I can utilize while tutoring. It is such a joy to work one on one with a student to help them develop their own set of skills that they can use for the rest of their lives, not only in the subject being studied, but in other everyday pursuits as well.
I have a master's degree in music, my two instruments being voice and piano
. I specialize in music history
, music theory
, ear training
, sight singing
, technique, public speaking
, and overcoming stage fright. Other non-music specialties are language diction
; basic grammar
and elementary conversational speaking in German and French; English reading
and comprehension; vocabulary
; elementary math
and elementary science
; organizational, study, and test prep skills. I like to challenge a student to work their hardest in each session, but I also am in tune to the needs of the student's pace and try not to overwhelm them. I do assign homework after each session and expect it to be completed by the next session. I can provide assessments and progress reports at the request of the parents when needed.
The high standards I hold my students to are the same I require of myself. I welcome feedback and have a satisfaction guaranteed policy. Please understand that learning a subject takes time so progress may not be seen "overnight", but I will say that with proper commitment, progress will be visible over time.
I try to be as flexible as possible and ask that students return the same courtesy. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy, but do offer make up lessons in emergency situations or if the student cancels before the 24 hour time period. If I ever need to cancel the student will always receive a make up session.
To ensure a quiet and comfortable study space, I tutor out of my home in Glendale near the Glendale Community College, or I am more than happy to travel to another location within 15 miles that is convenient for the student.
I am excited to get started with you and help you on your path to success in your studies!
