“Privet!” This is the word used in Russian to casually greet friends. See, you already learned your first Russian word!
I offer lessons in my native language Russian to anyone who is interested in learning to speak, read, and write in Russian. I hold a bachelor's degree in Russian language and literature from Yerevan State University and a master's in educational psychology with emphasis in college counseling from California State University, Northridge. I have been teaching Russian as a foreign language to adults interested in doing business or extensive traveling in Russia, to college students taking classes in Russian but needing additional help, and to young children whose ancestors came to the US from Russia and wanted their offspring to master the language.
One of my strengths is the fact that I am equally fluent in both Russian and English and have no accent in either language. In order for you to get a deep understanding of Russian, I will expose you to the Russian culture, traditions and customs comfortably using both languages.
In my experience, every student is different; therefore, I will do my best to adapt my lessons to your purpose for learning Russian, your goals, time frame, and personal learning style. All of this information I gather from our initial consultation which I provide free of charge. During this session you can also determine if my tutoring style will work for you.
I think that learning vocabulary is very important: you can’t speak a foreign language, if you don’t know very many words. In addition to vocabulary building exercises, the lessons will include grammar, language structure, pronunciation, conversations, reading and translation, listening to native speakers, role playing, and watching Russian movies and cartoons.
I respect my students’ time and ask the same in return. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy which applies to both parties but will work with you to set up a makeup session.
I look forward to working with you and sharing ‘my’ language with you!
