Karen L. is an adjunct professor at USC's Annenberg School of Communications and Journalism. She is also the former foreign editor at the national public radio program, Marketplace Radio, where she led reporting teams to win multiple national awards. She was a reporter and editor for nearly a decade at the international news service, Agence France-Presse. She has reported extensively in Latin America for national US magazines and newspapers and has won two Overseas Press Club awards for her work. She speaks French and Spanish.
She is currently producing a public media program with her daughter, a 2008 Harvard graduate. Most recently, she was one of the lead instructors in a USC executive education on campus program to teach high-level broadcast journalists from China about creative and innovative ways to tell stories. She has served as a writing and voice coach for various national radio programs and print organizations.
