Born in Tokyo, Japan, raised in Sydney, Australia and Las Vegas, Nevada, pianist Lisa Maresch grew up with an eclectic taste in music. From playing the Japanese taiko drums, playing shows on the Las Vegas “strip,” to performing classical concerts for outreach programs across the country, she has built a career as a solo pianist, collaborator, and an educator.
She was previously full-time faculty at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she taught solo piano, pedagogy, chamber music, and coordinated the accompaniment program, and also served as adjunct faculty at Chapman Conservatory of Music, where she was staff pianist, and the Orange County High School of the Arts in California, where she taught sight singing, ear training, chamber music, and piano classes.
She has performed for many festivals such as the International Keyboard Institute at the Mannes School in New York, Round Top International Music Festival in Texas, Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina, The Quartet Program in Pennsylvania, just to name a few, and a guest pianist with the Las Vegas Woodwind Quintet, Arizona Musicfest, Concert Series at St. Margret's, and the Blackbird Music Project. Recently performing more music of living composers, she has worked with, and performed the music of, composers such as Virko Baley, John Harbison, and Zhou Long this past Spring.
Founder of the Scholarship Student Showcase for the Warne Foundation in Orange County, California, and director of a piano festival in American Samoa, Lisa is a strong advocate for music education. Newly appointed on the Board of Directors for Arquetopia in Mexico, a nonprofit foundation for music and arts, she will be in residency this season in Oxaca, Mexico.
