I am a novelist whose first book was published in March of this year. Like most writers, I have some free time available each week and I enjoy putting it to good use tutoring; I work with both adults and young people. I find it invigorating and rewarding to share my own love of language; this in most every capacity -- beyond the novels, I have written SAT tests, magazine articles, book reviews, etc.

I usually work one-on-one in a very relaxed setting, using as much conversation as instruction to try to draw out any and all knowledge and innate ability within an individual. This also helps to identify weaker areas and allows us to work together to make a plan to improve in said areas, be they vocabulary, comprehension, syntax, etc.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

This is where I thrive. From evaluating literature to evaluating sentences to composing the latter into the former of your own, I can be of service in all areas of the English language.

Film

With years of professional experience working in the film industry in Hollywood under my belt bolstered by a degree in film production and film studies from Emerson College, I can competently assist many levels of learners when it comes both to the production and analysis side of cinema and video.

Public Speaking

I have spoken in myriad locations on a wide variety of topics, from discussing writing (my own and the work of others) at book stores large and small to addressing assemblies of hundreds of school children of all ages. My background in English and the theater has made me a confident, competent public speaker and I enjoy assisting others in bettering their own enjoyment of and competence at it.
