Differential Equations
My background in Mathematics is quite deep and extensive, and Differential Equations has always held a strange fascination for me among the Mathematical sub-disciplines. Where Linear Algebra enables one to start seeing the deep connections that exist among mathematical structures themselves, Differential Equations enables one to start seeing the deep connection between mathematics and the operation of the real world. In other words, one begins to finally understand, fundamentally, why the natural world is described mathematically, and not some other way. The techniques of both Calculus and Linear Algebra are brought to bear on problems of dynamics -- that is how things move and change with respect to one another. I matriculated into the Doctoral Program in Mathematics at University of Illinois. My coursework includes the following: Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Analysis on the Real Line, Analysis in n-Space, Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra (Groups, Rings, Fields, Galois Theory), General/Algebraic Topology, Measure and Integration Theory.
Greek
My first degree was in Classics, with an emphasis in Greek. My command of Ancient Greek is complete. Authors that I have read include Plato, Herodotus, Homer, Lysias, Demosthenes, Sophocles, Euripides, New Testament, Lucian, and selections of others.
Linear Algebra
Linear Algebra: My background in Mathematics is quite deep and extensive, and Linear Algebra happens to be my favorite of the sub-disciplines. It is where the true beauty of Mathematics begins to be apparent, and where one can finally see the deep connections that exist among mathematical structures. I matriculated into the Doctoral Program in Mathematics at University of Illinois. If interested, my coursework includes the following: Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Analysis on the Real Line, Analysis in n-Space, Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra (Groups, Rings, further Theoretical Linear Algebra), General/Algebraic Topology.
Organic Chemistry
Organic Chemistry: I was trained as a Chemist at UC Irvine, and Organic was my area of specialization. I have also done research in Organic Synthesis. I absolutely love Organic Chemistry, and having the opportunity to teach and tutor it is always an extra special pleasure. Coursework, if interested, includes Organic, Advanced Organic, Advanced Organic Synthesis Lab, Research in Synthetic Organic, Medicinal Chemistry.
