Hello, I'm Tyler, a current college student at Fullerton College who is about to transfer to Cal State Fullerton University. My major is in history and my minor is in classical voice. I love history and have been wanting to become a history teacher all my life. I have helped children that needed assistance in: History, Math (Elementary - Geometry), and Biology. They were very appreciative of my help. Even other teachers enjoyed having me to help others that struggle with the subject. I really enjoy tutoring because it brings joy to the student and to myself, when he or she answers the question on an assignment or test correctly. Tutoring children is a wonderful experience, not just for me; but for others as well.
My goal as a history tutor is to help students who struggle with history and make it as fun and educational as possible for them to learn and enjoy. I don't believe that history is "boring," "dry," or "unimportant." In reality it isn't. Its the teacher or student who makes it boring for the whole entire class. Additionally, history is really important to us as people, because we create it! My methods of tutoring will be positive and will also help the student learn and understand the concept of what went on in that time period in history. My lesson plan is that the student will start off with an activity that deals with history (10-15 minutes). Then, I will help the student with their homework (30 minutes). Lastly, they will take a mini quiz (15 minutes), which will help them do well on real tests and quizzes.
I can also help students with voice, music theory, music history. I am a Baritone soloist in both Classical and Operatic Music. I went to the Orange County High School of the Arts, and was part of the Opera Conservatory. I also was the assistant conductor for OCHSA's Concert Choir (Grades: 7th-9th). My methods of teaching Music help students who want to pursue Music as a career. My lesson plan is that the student will work on music theory work sheets (10 minutes). Then, the student will learn Music History, by learning the concepts of musicality, the composers and their lifestyles, and what went on in the periods of music (15 minutes). Lastly, the student will learn how to sing properly through vocal technique, body technique,sight singing, rhythms, and how to read and sing sheet music (35 minutes).
As a student, I deeply care about my education. Hopefully one day, each child will look upon themselves and will appreciate their education at a much higher standard.
