I am a 21 year-old college student majoring in History and minoring in Anthropology, who has a passion for learning and also for helping other people to become much more successful in school. I believe that most of the problem's people have with grasping a subject is simply because they don't have someone who is willing to sit down and take them through it step by step. A teacher's job is to teach a subject to a classroom of people, and because of that some students get left behind. That's what I'm here for: to help those students who are having problems excel in their classwork.
My methods of tutoring include breaking down problems and work that the students have, it doesn't include me just doing the work for them. Mnemonic devices, charts, goal-setting, and listening to how the student feels about the work is very important. I believe that every person is able to learn, but at their own pace and in their own style. Making games out of school work and assignments is a great way to keep them interested, and just taking the time to really understand what they have a hard time understanding goes a long way. Some students may benefit from having a set of steps to follow ( a method if you will)that can help them, and some may simply be auditory or visual learners. As long as you keep them actively engaged in wanting to learn then that student can succeed. I'm a very dedicated tutor, and want to not just help the student on that assignment but also to help them retain that knowledge for the future.
