I am a certified and credentialed teacher with 15 years of experience, as well as a mom, who enjoys working and volunteering with children. I hold two valid teaching credentials: Multiple Subject Credential SB 2042 w/CLAD and a Single Subject Credential in English. Currently, I am in my fourth year as a studio teacher, where I work on set with child actors and models. I tutor them in their educational studies (while they’re working) and also enforce state child labor laws. I have an easy rapport with kids and genuinely enjoy what I do!

My personal and individualized approach helps students succeed and I believe that all children have the ability to reach their highest potential. With an emphasis on self-learning, my students become independent, self-reliant, and gain confidence to learn on their own—while making it fun to learn. I also consult with a trained clinical child therapist, to ensure your child receives the best educational tutoring possible. We keep the needs of the whole child and his or her well being in mind.

I have a BA in Journalism from Washington State University. I was a TV News Reporter and wrote daily--I know how to write under deadlines! I am also a credentialed teacher with 15 years of experience and have taught high school English. I am a spelling and grammar geek and love to write! I'd like to help make writing fun for you and improve your skills.

English

I am a credentialed high school English and Literature teacher. I love grammar and spelling! (How's that for a bumper sticker?) I teach all aspects of English: writing composition, essay writing, vocabulary, editing, reading, and more.

ESL/ESOL

I hold 2 teaching credentials and have a certificate in CLAD (Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development). I have been teaching ESL classes at the middle school level and have been trained to provide specialized instruction to English learners to assist them with developing their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English.

SAT Math

I am certified in SAT math, reading and writing, and scored above the 95th percentile on my own SATs. I teach SAT test prep classes and will teach you proven strategies, time-saving and test-taking tips that will get you that higher score on test day, so that you can apply to the University of your dreams!

Proofreading

Before I became a teacher, I was a professional proofreader. I have often been teased by my friends for reading their letters with a red pen poised in my hand! Elementary (K-6th)

I have a clear Multiple Subject teaching credential, SB 2042, with CLAD, from CSU-Fullerton. I have taught 2nd grade, 6th grade all subjects, and 6th grade pre-algebra, science core, as well as ELD.

Phonics

I have 15 years of teaching experience and have taught K-12th grade students. I also have a multiple subject teaching credential with an emphasis on reading, and have taken courses on phonics and teaching phonics.

Study Skills

I have two teaching credentials and have taught K-12th grade students. Teaching organization, time management, and study skills is just part of what I do when tutoring my students. There are tips and prioritizing, that once put into practice, become habit--creating lifelong learners with excellent study skills!

Theatre

I have a minor in Theatre and Dramatic Arts from Washington State University. I have been active in Community Theatre for many years and enjoy working back stage with my daughter's childrens' musical theatre repertory company. I love theatre and am definitely a patron of the arts!

Video Production

I have a degree in Communication, specifically Broadcast Journalism, from Washington State University. I was a TV News Reporter and learned all about video production and editing. I also worked in Corporate video, where I produced and edited training videos for the company's employees.

Public Speaking

I received my undergrad degree in Broadcast Journalism and was a TV News Reporter. I have taken many speech and public speaking classes, have taught speech and debate to my high school English students, and am confident I can help students with this great skill.

CBEST

I am very familiar with the CBEST and its requirements. I can confidently tutor to prepare for this test, as I passed with a high score (first-time) when I had to take this test for my teaching credential program.

Social Studies

I have 15 years of teaching experience and have two teaching credentials. Specifically to Social Studies: I have taught 2nd grade and 6th grade.
