Hello! My name is Nathan. I'm a graduate of the Torrey Honors Institute at Biola University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Humanities, emphasis in English. I also teach Pre-Calculus and Physics for Biola Youth Academics.
In middle school, I participated in math competitions, primarily MathCounts, in which I was first place in the state of California in 8th grade. A few years later, I scored a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam in 10th grade. I also took AP Chemistry, AP Physics B, and AP Physics C: Mechanics during my senior year, scoring a 5 on each of them.
In 9th grade, I took the old SAT and scored 1580, with an 800 on the Verbal section and a 780 on the Math section. As a senior in high school, I took the new SAT and scored 2330, with scores of 780 in Math, 780 in Verbal, and 770 in Writing.
I am currently writing a series of fantasy fiction books which I hope to publish in the next few years.
When I tutor, my intent is to help the student learn how to solve the problems rather than giving the answer to the student. If necessary, I will guide the student step-by-step through the process, but I try to help the student think on his/her own and to recognize correct ways to answer problems, write papers, or otherwise do excellent work.
