My name is Kyle C
. I was born in Visalia, CA, and moved to San Luis Obispo in 2006 to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy
Poly State University in four years. While there, I was active in the Philosophy Club, the Ethics and Emerging Sciences Group, and spent much time conversing and connecting with the faculty. I served as an Instructional Student Assistant in the Philosophy Department in the Winter and Spring quarters of 2010, where I read and graded Philosophy exams/essays and acted as assistant to the teaching faculty. I even had the chance to work as Editorial Assistant (both pro bono and paid) on a collection of journal articles with my professors called “Robot Ethics: The Ethical and Social Implications of Robotics.”
I served as a tutor in a general-education level Metaphysics class, and I specialize in Kantian Epistemology, where my education and research culminated into a senior project on “Dogmatism, Skepticism, and the Kantian Critique” - essentially explaining our mental faculties, how we acquire knowledge (according to Kant), and the difference between knowledge and belief.
After working as a counselor with at-risk youth in San Luis Obispo for three years, I moved to Fresno in August of 2013 to attend graduate school for Rehabilitation Counseling at Fresno State. I thrive in the classroom, and love giving presentations to my fellow students. I am passionate about education as being the driving force behind success. Critical thinking, which is foundational to education, begins in Philosophy.
I like connecting with students on a practical/hands-on manner, making Philosophy and Education relevant to our individual lives. If you have any further questions or comments for me, please let me know and I will promptly get back to you. Thank you for your consideration.
