Hello there, potential student!
I graduated with double honors from Mills College, which I attended on a full ride, in 2013 with a double major in biology and business economics. Before that, I was a part of Mission San Jose High School class of 2009. I am currently in the process of applying to medical school.
I have over 8 years of tutoring experience! I worked at Kumon Learning Center from 2005 to 2009, teaching children ages 4-17 math and English. In college, I was a peer tutor for Calculus I and an MBA course called Quantitative Methods, as well as a TA for Introduction to Statistics. Since October 2013, I have been teaching AP Biology, pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II at an area academy. Since November 2013, I have been teaching AP Statistics and AP Biology at another tutoring organization. I additionally have years of private tutoring experience in all of the aforementioned subjects. I am comfortable working with all ages as I have had pre-K students as well as much older adults.
I am also available to help with SAT and MCAT test prep. I scored a 2300 on my SAT in 2008, with an 800 on verbal, 750 in math, and 750 in writing. I scored a 34 on my MCAT, with an 11 on physical sciences, 12 on verbal, and 11 on biological sciences.
I enjoy teaching one on one. I rely very heavily on lecture-based tutoring with plenty of accompanying visuals, especially for biology. Outside of tutoring, as a clinical research assistant and a pre-med student I have additional real world biology experience, which allows me to bring a richer, more well-rounded set of skills as a tutor to my students.
Don't be shy- send me a message! If you would like to request a lowered rate or group tutoring, let me know and we can discuss it!
