I am a U.C. Berkeley electrical engineering student. Due to personal reasons, I am not enrolled this current semester. I am already filling some time as a tutor but would like to help more students. I am experienced in any of the following subjects: algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, high school chemistry.
I remember being a high school student and thoroughly enjoy helping students succeed and improve their grades. Several students improve their test scores by at least one letter grade, even within only a few weeks, when I have worked with them.
I believe it is essential to first establish a comfortable, relaxed relationship with the student, which can enable them to learn more effectively during our sessions. Within the first few visits, I can pinpoint the areas where the student needs most help and make that the focus of our time spent together. Once I help a student understand a new concept, I then make sure to challenge them with similar problems to reinforce their understanding and boost their confidence. With progress and more confidence, I find that students tend to enjoy the material much more, and this then often leads to an acceleration of more progress and learning.
