I am a U.C. Berkeley EECS student (emphasis with computer science). I also attended MSJHS. I live in Fremont though (commute via BART), so I'm not available for students living in/near Berkeley.
A little about me with regard to tutoring:
I thoroughly enjoy helping students succeed and improve their grades. I began tutoring in 2007. Several students have improved their test scores by at least one letter grade, even within only a few weeks, after they began working with me.
I believe it is essential to first establish a comfortable, relaxed relationship with students. Often the first visit is mainly spent just getting to know the student as a person. Afterwards, it's easier to begin tackling the subject material. Then within the first few visits, I pinpoint the concepts needing the most help and make that the focus of the session. Once students understand a new concept, I then challenge them with similar problems to reinforce their understanding and boost their confidence. This strategy often helps students to enjoy the material much more, which leads to an acceleration of more progress and learning. This being said, I am always flexible with my approach and am happy to serve as whatever type of resource and use whatever method works best for the student.
Thank you for considering me as your tutor and hope to hear from you!
