Experienced, Credentialed Math Teacher, Spanish Tutor

I have loved teaching math (pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry) at the high school and intermediate school level for 6 years. I am a credentialed classroom teacher, but I love working one-on-one with students because it allows me to quickly figure out their learning style and to tailor my instruction to what works for them. I believe that it is necessary to teach math for understanding rather than having students memorizing procedures, and it is probably through my engineering background that I recognize that it is critical to break down problems and concepts into steps. I strongly believe that everyone can be successful at math, and my goal is to give students the tools and confidence they need to achieve success.

Algebra 1

I have 6 years of on the classroom teaching Algebra 1 experience. I am very familiar with the state standards and the areas that students have the most difficulty learning. I have a well liked personality and work well with kids. I enjoy teaching math.

Geometry

Geometry is one of my favorite subjects. I find it fun and easy to explain. Unlike other math branches, Geometry is visual, kids can see it, and if needed kids can build with it. If you know, there is a higher likelihood you'll use it in real life. Maybe we don't realize it when we are using it, but it sure comes in handy. It transfers over to many lines of work. I am a native Spanish speaker. I have taught Spanish at Montessori School of Livermore and tutor on the side. Spanish is a beautiful language, and very helpful. Si se puede.
