I have been teaching and tutoring math since I was in college, and have been doing it professionally for the last 12 years. I enjoy math and I have many different ways to approach difficult subjects. I am NOT big on memorizing formulas, although there are a few that DO need to be memorized. I try to approach math from a logical perspective so that the formulas and functions make sense. I am especially fond of Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus (which is basically a review of all math learned to that point, plus a little Calculus thrown in), although I am most experienced with Pre-Algebra and Algebra. And of course there is Geometry, Discrete Math, SAT math prep, ACT math prep. etc. (gosh, I like them all). Regardless of the math, my students tell me (and their parents) that I make math fun and easy to understand (even if some still profess to hate it). OCC students! I've got the goods for Math 115! Give me a call, and let's set up a session, and see if we are a good fit.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

CBEST

I have taken and passed the CBEST. I have been teaching/tutoring math (elementary through Calculus) and substitute teaching (all subjects) for 12 years. I think my ability to do the math portion of the CBEST should be obvious based on subjects passed. While I rarely tutor other subjects besides math, I could. English is my first language. My father was an English and French teacher (retired) at Santa Ana College (my siblings and I learned to spell, speak and write properly). I speak three languages: French, Spanish and English which gives me a better understanding of grammar and word meanings.

She Graduated! — Our daughter needed to get a passing grade on a math test to graduate HS. It was the only thing she was missing. She took the test and got a 44 and had to take it again with only 5 days to prepare because graduation was 6 days away. Steven came to our house Friday and over the weekend that preceeded the test. He was so patient with her and really helped her to understand the material. She passe ...
