Education is my passion. I would like to be given the chance to unlock the success that I feel each student is capable of. It would be my job to assess and then build on that foundation to reach the desired goal. I feel this is done using multiple avenues and tools. My education was received through Azusa Pacific University where I obtained my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as a Master's in Education.
I hold a valid California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Prior to receiving my teaching credential I was required to pass three standardized tests, the MSAT (Multiple Subject Assessment for Teachers), the RICA (Reading Instruction Competence Assessment) and the CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test). A general overview of the subjects that are taught from K-6th grade- math, science, language arts, social studies, and spelling. I have experience working with small groups of Kindergarten students, teaching a first grade class of twenty-two children, as well as teaching a combination class of fourth and fifth graders. For over a year I was part of a team at the YWCA, which offered afterschool care for Kindergarten through fifth grade. This gave me the opportunity to work with students of different levels and strengths.
Geography is the study of our world. Depending on the grade, it starts with the states and progresses outwards to encompass the world. Land masses, water, territories, and habitation coincide with the sciences to develop geography knowledge. I gained experience in this subject while teaching in a fourth / fifth grade combination class.
Phonics enable beginning readers to identify the different sounds of letters through pronunciation. Mastering the short and long vowel, diphthongs, and consonant blends are an intergral part of phonic success to decode words.
I have had experience teaching the fundamentals of phonetic awareness while a preschool teacher and then again when I moved to first grade. My Multiple Subject Teaching Credential gives me the education and tools to deliver competent instruction on the subject.
Proofreading is checking various bodies of writing for grammatical structure, capitalization, punctuation, and an over all flow to the subject at hand. Spelling is also important to the process of proofreading.
Reading begins with mastering phonics and sight words. As these basic foundations are acquired then comprehension of what is being said in the passage or story takes place. A strong vocabulary goes hand in hand with reading success.
