Professionally, I have worked as a private practice psychoanalyst for over 25 years. I have an insatiable craving for knowledge, which has led to many years of study in a variety of subjects. Almost everything is of interest to me. My profession has taught me to believe in and enjoy the uniqueness of each human being. I consider the personality and learning style of each individual, thus I continually change my tutoring style to adapt to the student, opening paths for learning which may not have been earlier explored. My undergraduate work had a heavy emphasis in pre-med anatomy and physiology. I also had some interesting and enjoyable training in basic physics.
I love teaching math to students who “just can’t get it” especially the very young. I see math as the one thing in life that never changes – we can’t even say that about our best friends! Many elementary teachers hate math, and when math is presented to a young person by a “math-a-phobe” of course they’ll have a hard time learning. Psychology, sociology and psychoanalysis are my passion. I feel totally qualified to tutor any course, on any level, in any of these areas.
Personally, I’ve been married to one man for many years, and I have two children and many cats. I’ve spent a lot of time in California, but Chicago and New York will always be home. I like a good Wagner opera, I love to watch boxing, I do needlework and oil painting, I'm working on my first novel, and I'm planning to enroll in an Arabic language course in the Fall. However, don't ask me to tutor spelling ... I'm a terrible speller!
