My aptitude and love for tutoring finds its roots in twenty five years of homeschooling. Beyond teaching my own seven children, I have tutored outside my home, served in the role of curriculum writer, support group leader, and director of various learning co-operatives, all designed to engage students in the learning process. Viewing every student as a unique individual, I am willing to customize the tutoring experience in order to make it both productive and enjoyable.
I enjoy helping students develop their ability to organize and communicate their thoughts through writing, believing the art of "wordsmithing" is an essential means to educational accomplishment. After a 30 year hiatus, I recently finished my Bachelor's Degree, graduating summa cum laude. That experience served as a refresher in college level writing and has further enhanced my ability to prepare students for the requirements and rigors of higher level writing.
Thankfully, my home tutoring has seen success. One of my children graduated valedictorian; another graduated salutatorian and received his bachelor's degree as a writing literature major, going on to be a published writer. Another won a college scholarship based on her submitted essay.
A parent of one of my tutored students comments: "I was very pleased with Rebecca. She really loves her job and was really dedicated to teaching my son. She has met and exceeded my expectations. If I were a teacher, I would give her an A plus."
