I am an experienced classroom teacher, seminar leader and professional feature article writer. I graduated from Olivet Nazarene College in Bourbonnais, IL. I have taught both high school and junior high school English, with an emphasis on reading, writing, drama and speech. I graduated with a 4.0 on the Deans List from this medium size college in Illinois. My teaching career path has taken me from secondary teacher to Public Relations writing and marketing, and I am currently in the Financial Services arena with a strong emphasis in education for my clients. My most recent tutoring assignment was with an ESL student who needed help with studying for her Series Seven Test. I have tutored numerous elementary students in reading, writing, spelling and some math problems. My high school students have received help from me with regard to the correct outlining methods and essay writing. After the 2007 October Fires in Southern California, I tutored all age groups of elementary children through SAY/San Diego, which was a tutorial program to help students with all basic skills in reading, math, social studies and science.
I have worked with an international visitor from Japan beginning in 2009 through WyzAnt. He was in San Diego on business, and needed help with vocabulary, reading, speech and pronunciation skills while visiting Southern California. I taught another student from Vietnam all facets of speech and pronunciation. She was new to the United States, and we worked together to improve her English speech and pronunciation for about ten weeks to bring her much success.
I am proud to let you know that an elementary grade student did so well in his reading, writing, vocabulary and test preparation that he was comfortable writing essays on a blogging site. It is my pleasure to help parents and students work with me as an experienced teacher and tutor to give you help with more advanced skills within your specific study area. I look forward to helping you with your tutoring needs soon.
Thank you,
Sandra
