I love tutoring and I have a lot of experience doing it. I paid my way through my undergraduate degree tutoring English grammar and composition, including ESL (English as a second language). I also initiated and directed a satellite tutoring program for the dance department, which was located off the main campus, preventing students from enrolling in the college's free tutoring program. I graduated from my BA program with honors and a GPA of 3.85.
Since graduating, I have held many jobs that involved professional writing, editing, and proofreading. I also took some time to go back to school and completed three years of post-baccalaureate study in pre-medicine, during which time I was given a commendation by the zoology department as an outstanding zoology student in their honors program. I have worked in both technical and white collar fields, which gives me a broad range of experience and vocabulary. I currently have my own part-time practice in equine massage therapy (mostly on the weekends), and I enjoy working part-time as a tutor to complement that. I have also done some professional nanny work, which entailed tutoring as part of my regular duties. I have worked in an educational capacity with kids from K-12, as well as the college students mentioned above.
Lastly, I should mention that I am also a parent. My son graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and is maintaining a similar standard at a top-10 ranked US college from where he will graduate this spring. I'm pretty good at blending academic material with tips for time management, test taking, project organization, and note taking. I also know how important it is to keep appointments and make sure the student's needs are being met.
