Becky is wonderful! She became my writing tutor during this summer. She was extremely patient and careful in going over every detail in my writings, helping me correct any mistakes she could find. With her help, I finally passed college writing requirement after failing for several times.

Becky has been tutoring my high school son for 6 months now with excellent results. He was taking an overload of honors and AP courses, got poor teaching and really poor feedback from one public high school teacher, got behind in one subject and then it all snowballed. Becky was able to tutor him in all four academic subjects that were problematic, improving his grades, confidence, and approach to learning and studying. I like the way she 'unlocks' his abilities, showing him how to use resources and HOW to go about learning, not just drilling and lecturing. She has amazingly broad academic and global knowledge, and is able to inspire him by showing him how mastery of writing, foreign language and other subject are critical to professional/career accomplishments, not just high school subjects to survive. My son has been struggling with learning to read. This was a very difficult thing for my wife and I as we just expected when the time came for our son to read that he would. So when we started to realize that he was not able to learn at the same pace as others this was a huge shock to us. With the help of teachers at his school we realized that our son has a form of dyslexia called auditory dyslexia. (Inability to distinguish between similar sounds) We found Miss Becky on wyzants and seemed to connect with her almost immediately. Our son is very creative and Miss Becky who is herself an artist was able to reach him in ways that grabbed his attention in a firm but loving way. It was not long before Miss Becky became "Our Miss Becky". For our situation there is no "quick fix" but we have learned some great ways to help our son and we are making good progress as we all learn to deal with this challenge.If your child is struggling with reading I highly recommend Miss Becky!!

Rebecca helped my son with AP World History, both the class and the preparation for the AP exam. She is extremely knowledgeable and made it interesting for him. Rebecca has the ability to add just enough detail to make things come alive, but yet she is able to stay on track and cover what needs to be covered for the class and exam. As a new comer to America, I wanted to have some tutor to guide me English pronunciation, listening and speaking.
Rebecca pinpointed my wrong pronunciation, which I believe I could never find out myself. It was surprising that some pronunciation I had no doubt I'm good at was actually wrong. Now I'm pretty more confident about my pronunciation, though I need more time to get used to it.
Also it was fun to exercise "listen and repeat". At first, she read 4~5 words from a book and I was to repeat them. It was more challenging that I had thought. I usually forgot "a" or "the" and was confused with tenses. It revealed that I was lack of some grammar knowledge which I studied long ago but almost forgot. So it gave me direction to improve my English. Now she increased the words to a whole sentence and I can repeat it (not always perfect, but I see improvement very clearly).
These things may not sound so great for the natives, but for people whose mother tongue is not English, it should be very promising.
And Rebecca is open to my suggestion and opinion about the tutoring and very keen to change tutoring method to my request.
I think that anybody who wants to improve English should try her tutoring.

We have been using Becky for about 8 months now. My daughter loves her and looks forward to working with her every week. Becky reviews issues that may have come up during the previous week and is also able to work on some problems that my daughter will be introduced to in the upcoming week; as well as tests she has taken. This prepares her all the way around. My daughter's grades have greatly improved and her self confidence has increased as well. My daughter doesn't fear math like she may have used to. Becky's other great qualities are punctuality, patience, and a sense of calm about her. Becky is wonderful!

Had a disagreement over her handling of not being admitted by guard at our gated community. She left within minutes of not being admitted, giving us no chance to resolve it with the guard station, but insisted on being paid for the lesson.

This client forgot about me twice. I was turned away from the gate twice, with no place to wait: I was simply told to go.
The client agreed, in writing, both times, as the Wyzant record will show, that he was in the wrong to have forgotten to give an admission advisory to the guard at his gated community. Wyzant provides for compensation for tutors who arrive on time and ready and who are forgotten by their clients, in this case a disorganized client.
The client agreed to pay this fee twice, in writing, and then later complained that I owe him money.
He wants me to pay for his forgetfulness. He never organized for a Plan B in case he kept forgetting about me. My trip to his gated community is a one hour round trip.
He had given me five stars every time he graded me for improving his son's understanding of mathematics.
If he feels I owe him money, the cost of a cancellation fee or two, I'm happy to meet him in Small Claims Court, with all the documentation of our transactions through Wyzant.
I resigned from tutoring his son, whom I enjoyed assisting, on the basis of this man's unreasonable treatment of me.
