With a love of literature and formal training in playwriting and screenwriting (BFA, NYU) I have always had an affinity for words and self expression. Language is one of the characteristics that distinguishes human beings from the rest of the animal kingdom. We are social animals, and we need language to succeed in life. My focus is on helping people to become better communicators, through language in all its forms. I strive to create a supportive yet challenging environment for my students, to best promote their successful learning and improvement.

My background is in writing. I studied theatre and cinema in New York, and was trained by working professionals in the film and performing arts industry.
I have an excellent understanding of grammar, syntax, and form. I can help to get you writing clearer and cleaner, and to enjoy doing it. The forms I can assist with are expository writing, essays, creative, critical analysis, and dramatic writing (plays, scripts).
I recently moved back to the US, after 4 years living in France. There I worked as a language consultant and ESL teacher for working professionals and business school students. At the same time, I studied french, a beautiful and complex language. This gave me an even richer appreciation for English. I look forward to sharing this with you, and helping you to become a better communicator.

Grammar

As a professionally trained writer, and an English language trainer, I am well informed on the uses of grammar and its function. I can explain and offer examples that make the rules of grammar more easily understood. The lessons I provide will always be catered to each learners personal requests, and I do so by covering all three basic learning styles (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) so every learning objective is fully met.

French

I have studied the french language for many years, and lived in France for 4 years. My family is also french, so I am very familiar with the culture and ways of life. This is an important part of learning and practicing the language. A great way to improve is to imitate the sounds of french, so you can work on your accent. And of course, if you can think like a French person, you can speak like one too!

English

I am formally trained in writing, with 7+ years experience teaching English. I can give you the tools to improve your essay writing and composition skills, regardless of age or grade level.

ESL/ESOL

With 7+ year of experience in ESL/ESOL training, I can help anyone improve their understanding and usage of the English language. I use modern techniques, and multimedia materials, to make each lesson as fun and motivating as possible.

Public Speaking

I have worked as a communication consultant for business professionals, who are looking to become more effective communicators and public speakers for the past 4 years. Film

I obtained a BFA in dramatic writing for film and theatre. I have studied film and editing, and have a vast knowledge of cinema, specifically focused on storytelling and composition. My main areas of expertise are structuring of the screenplay, and the basic elements of editing for film and video.
