I am a professor at Hope International University in Elk Grove, CA (Psychology and Counseling) and have also taught at Institute of Technology in Redding, CA (Psychology, Public Speaking and Professional Development). I have experience in the K-12 public school system (Enterprise Elementary School District) and have served students in Special Education.
In addition to teaching, I am a therapist in Sacramento where my focus is on teens, tweens and young adults. With this experience, I am equipped to serve a variety of special needs. While I am open to teaching and tutoring for students with many backgrounds and religions, I have had much experience providing tutoring services for Christian families.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a 1:1 aid in the K-12 public school system for several years and worked with children with ADHD before I completed my Master's in Counseling Psychology. Now that I am pursuing a career in Marriage and Family Therapy, I have had several clients (children, teens and adults) who struggle with ADHD. I enjoy working with them through their journeys of growth.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I often have the opportunity to work with children and teens who have spectrum disorders. Children with Asperger's are generally very intelligent and just need additional intervention to help hone their skills, attention and obsessions. I have also worked as a 1:1 aid with Asperger's children in the k-12 public school system; many of these students were able to elevate to the top of the class after a few sessions of attention-building exercises.
With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, I have thoroughly studied the eccentricities of working with autistic children and teens. I have also had the opportunity to counsel and tutor children and teens with spectrum disorders. Though it can be a challenging task, walking with these children on their journeys of growth was so rewarding!
I am currently pursuing my PhD in Bible and Theology at AGTS. Throughout my studies and spiritual development, I have had many opportunities for self-study of the Bible as well as group and classroom presentation of biblical studies. I enjoy doing Bible Studies in both the academic and church settings.
I have experience tutoring K-6 students in both a private setting and in in a public setting when I worked as a tutor in the Enterprise Elementary School District. I have experience tutoring children in reading comprehension, sight word fluency, grammar, spelling, math, geography, and social studies. I also have a record of helping K-6 students to advance beyond their grade level in each of those areas as well. I use a variety of teaching modalities to meet the needs of various children: flash cards, games, worksheets, books with object lesson supplements, and more.
I was a 1:1 aid in the K-12 public school system for several years and worked with a variety of children on all levels as they progressed through their knowledge of phonics, reading and literature. I enjoy working with children and teens as they master the English language -- one step at a time.
I have been teaching Public Speaking at the community college level for the past couple of years. I enjoy watching the students gain confidence and skills as they progress through the course. I am also a Marriage and Family Therapist and I often working with youth and young adults on their speech anxiety.
I have a passion for working with children and teens who have a variety of special needs. My graduate-level training in counseling psychology and my experience in counseling and teaching have both equipped me with the patience that is necessary to walk alongside students who have special needs. I also worked in the k-12 public school system for several years in the Special Education classrooms, so I know what it takes to support children and teens who find themselves in unique learning opportunities.
While teaching Professional Development at the college level, I worked with a variety of students on honing their study skills and discovering which methods worked best for them (note-taking, audio, visual, flash cards, digital study strategies). As an Academic Coach, I see students on a daily basis who just need an extra few tips to be able to launch to the next step on their academic and career paths. I enjoy guiding students throughout this process.
