Hello! My name is David, and I just wrapped up my freshman year at MIT in Cambridge, MA. I'm spending my summer back home in San Diego, and I'd love to help you or your child out with your studies!
Here at MIT, I spend my time pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and playing varsity baseball with the Engineers. I volunteered over 100 hours last year in a third grade classroom, teaching individuals and small groups as a supplement to their overall classroom experience. I've also tutored as a side job for years in various subjects including chemistry, elementary math, English, and more.
I've found that I've learned best by thinking about how I can teach others the material I'm covering. As a result, I'm comfortable tutoring in any subject I've studied myself in the past, ranging from elementary topics all the way up to AP classes and standardized testing, and everything in between.
As a tutor, I strive to be patient and provide a durable understanding of the material. I believe that everyone picks up material at a different pace, and I feel comfortable teaching at any pace. I strive to see that light bulb moment of recognition as many times as I can in a given session. I'm flexible with my time, and I have reliable transportation. I prefer the first session to be at a neutral location, such as a library.
I look forward to working with you soon!
