Hello, my name is Francesca and I am a native Italian who moved to the US about eight years ago. I recently moved to California from the East coast, where I have taught Italian to students of different ages, levels and needs. Although my educational background is in psychology and counseling (I have a BA and MA from the University of Rome, and a Post-master's certificate in counseling from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore), teaching Italian and sharing my knowledge of Italian culture is my passion.
My lessons are tailored on the student's needs, from the basic of grammar and vocabulary for beginners, to more sophisticated syntax constructions and conversation for intermediate and advanced learners. In addition to regular lessons, I like to share with my students my passion for Italian culture, lifestyle, food, literature and movies. It is so that on a given week we can have a conversation on the different attitudes and behaviors of Italians and Americans in different situations (i.e., at the stadium, dining out, at a party), share a recipe from a particular region of Italy, comment on a movie or TV-show that we will have both watched during the week. For those who are interested, I can suggest a reading list of Italian modern authors. We will then read independently a novel or short story of your choice and we will discuss it together at the next lesson.
I like to keep my lessons interesting and lively; learning Italian can be fun!
