I am a retired mining and geotechnical engineer who worked in underground and surface
mines in several countries such as Zambia, India, and United States. Born and raised in India, I got my BS in mining engineering from the University of Calcutta (known as Kolkata these days)before going to England where I received my Ph.D in geotechnical
engineering.
I am married with two grown daughters and live in El Cerrito, California with my wife.
We came to the United States in 1975 and lived in Colorado and California. Our younger daughter was born in Denver, Colorado and there we became U.S citizens in 1981.
I was a very good student all my life, and I love sharing my knowledge with others. In other words I love teaching. I used to tutor my own classmates in high school. I taught
undergraduate and graduate level courses in mining and geotechnical engineering for over a year.
Math is my first love, and if I may say so, it is my last love. I enjoy teaching math, especially one-on-one. My students, by their own admission, are enamored by my teaching.
The other subject I am passionate about is geology. Geology is a fascinating subject and my passion for geology is rooted in my being a mining engineer. To become a mining engineer one needs to study geology quite a bit.
