My name is Joslyn and I absolutely love working with children! I graduated Cum Lade from San Diego State University with my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. I also finished my teaching certification program at SDSU.
I am currently a day-to-day substitute teacher working with students in grades K-5. I have about ten years experience working with students. My experience includes: supervising a homework center, working as a personal tutor, working as a student helper at a local elementary school, not to mention over 120 hours of field experience at various schools throughout the county.
As a teacher, the most effective teaching method that I love to implement in the classroom is the Gradual Release of Responsibility Method. This type of instruction allows for me to start off by demonstrating the specific task students are to perform (modeling). Then the students and I will work on a similar problem together (guided instruction). Finally, the students will be given the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned (independent practice). This is an effective method because the process changes from being "all teacher doing" to "all student doing." Students will be expected to apply what they have learned.
I have a passion for learning as well as teaching. I look forward to working with dedicated students and their families.
