I studied Chemistry as an undergrad at Carnegie Mellon University before coming out to U.C. Riverside for my Ph.D.
My dissertation is entitled "The Analysis of Aerosol Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry Data" and it describes chemical data analysis methods that I developed in Matlab and Visual Basic. I started and lead a biodefense data analysis project at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where I worked for seven years. The project ultimately led to two patents on data analysis methods and a code base of 20,000 lines contributed by six researchers.
In 2008, I launched a startup company to commercialize our research. 3 years of recession but we're still alive and kicking. We've even made sales! Don't get me started on this. It's my favorite subject.
Why tutor? 1. Teaching was my favorite part of graduate school. My sections regularly beat the mean on midterms by a wide margin. 2) I run a startup and I have three children in college. 'Nuff said?
