Columbia Grad to teach English/Public Speaking/History/Theatre

Hello Everyone,
I am passionate about academics and love to help students to reach their potentials. I am a graduate of Columbia University, Barnard College and have a double major in Theater and Gender Studies, as well as a concentration in Human Rights. Along with my intense academic focus on English, History, and Communications, I also have extensive training in Theater and Public Speaking, having trained at the British American Drama Academy(BADA) in London and completed my undergraduate degree in Theater.

I have tutored many students over the years. My method when working with students is to build their confidence and to be patient while also fostering a work ethic and providing the tools they need to reach their goals. American History

I love American History. In high school I took AP US History and scored a 5. When I went to college I studied US history more in-depth and took courses specifically in Native American Studies. I have study methods and plans that would improve any student's grade in U.S. History.

European History

In both high school and college I took many courses in European History. I developed a study method that works for my tutors and I love European history.

Reading

Having attended an Ivy League school I really learned a lot about English, both in literature and writing. I was constantly editing, reading, or writing my next paper. My experience enabled me to be an excellent tutor for those who need some guidance in English.

Spanish

I took Spanish all through elementary school, high school, and college. I also lived and studied in Argentina where I became a very good speaker. Most importantly, I am very passionate about the language and love teaching it!

English

Proofreading

SAT Writing

I am very familiar with the SAT Writing section and put an emphasis on practice tests so that the day of the test the student will feel as prepared as possible.

ACT Reading

ACT Science

I scored very highly on this test and am very familiar with the science section. I love tutoring for test preparation and would love to help anyone who would like an extra boost in their test scores.

Theatre

I have been training in theatre for over 10 years. My training in theatre includes Suzuki, Commedia Dell'Arte, Brechtian Theatre, Eastern European Dissident Theatre, Chicano Theatre, Theatre of the Absurd, Naturalism, Shakespeare and classical plays. I am a graduate of Barnard College/Columbia University. I received extensive training in theater and public speaking. Specifically, I focused on diction and articulation.
I also trained in London, England in Voice, Speech, and Diction. Having lived abroad in both Argentina and Mexico I understand the difficulties of learning a new language and am a very patient and kind tutor.

Art History

All throughout high school I took Art History and then took AP Art History during my senior year. I scored a 5 on the exam. I am very passionate about the subject. I then attended Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City, where I had access to many of the finest museums in the world and took courses in Art History particularly in Greek and Roman Art. I love to teach and love this topic.

Speech

I am an actor with a focus on Voice and Speech Training. I have a degree in theatre from Barnard College/Columbia University.

I have specifically studied Voice and Speech at BADA (British American Drama Academy) in London, England and have trained with the best voice teachers. Specifically, I focus and diction and clarity of thought.
