Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra I in high school, junior high school, and in college. I have worked with students to help them with their individual questions. I have been credentialed to teach mathematics from preschool through adult in California. I have a B.S. Degree in Secondary Education with a Mathematics major and an M.A. Degree in Elementary Mathematics.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a B.S.E. Degree in Secondary Mathematics and an M.A. Degree in Elementary Mathematics. I have had a Teaching Credential in California to teach in Preschool through adult level. I taught junior high school mathematics nine years. Six of those years I taught E.S.E.A. Title I Developmental Mathematics. During that time while I was teaching in junior high school mathematics, my employer, Waterloo Community Schools, had "hands on courses" offered by the University of Northern Iowa for the teachers in the Waterloo Schools at the Waterloo School Administration building immediately after school. There were elementary school teachers and secondary teachers employed by the District taking the classes together. It was a magnificent way for teachers at different levels to learn from each other various ways to present educational material.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math includes such topics as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Applications of these are also included in word problems.

Prealgebra

I have a BS Degree in Secondary Education with a major in Mathematics, as well as an MA Degree in Elementary Mathematics. I also have taught Prealgebra for the Los Angeles Unified School District.

I have worked with many students, both in giving the class lessons and in helping individuals with their questions and difficulties.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
