My goal is to help students gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed. I think learning can be fun and exciting.
As an experienced high school and college teacher, I bring years of practice and expertise to my students. I understand the types of lessons assigned by teachers, what they are looking for, and how to help each student develop his or her highest potential. I strongly believe that patient and encouraging tutoring is the most effective method for achieving success. Tutoring succeeds because, unlike classroom teaching, it allows the instructor to pinpoint each student's individual needs, strengths, and weaknesses. Every one of my students is important to me, and I take great pride in their achievements.
My background has allowed me to teach students at all levels of ability, diverse ethnic groups, and almost all age levels. I have taught English and business subjects throughout Los Angeles and Orange County for over 25 years, with my longest position being a teacher and department chair at Beverly Hills High School for 14 years. I have a Standard Secondary Life Credential for the state of California. In addition, I have taught computer classes at Pasadena City College. Following my retirement from teaching, I began tutoring and have been successfully following that course since 2005.
I love tutoring because I am able to work with each student individually, get to know that student, and help each of them perform better in school and feel better about themselves. It is the most rewarding part of my teaching career.
