I have been teaching high school math for 10 years, and I am authorized to teach mathematics through Calculus. I have taught Algebra 2, Geometry, Algebra, Prealgebra, and Consumer Mathematics. I have successfully tutored Precalculus and Calculus, as well as upper level college mathematics courses. I received my Masters degree in Mathematics at California State University Fullerton in May, 2012. I have tutored math since I was in high school. I believe that students learn math best by finding their own solutions. I consider that guiding the student to their own solution, via questioning, is the most effective form of tutoring, as it allows the student to think, reason, and explore as they solve problems. This helps the student to develop confidence and to mature as a learner. It guides them toward asking themselves questions as they work. This, in turn, helps them to become independent learners. I am a patient and understanding tutor, and I can help students refresh previous topics to assist in current coursework.
I am also a capable science tutor. My Bachelor's degree is in Biology, with a strong Chemistry minor. As a teaching assistant, I taught Chemistry laboratory courses. My undergraduate major included three semesters of Physics.
