My name is Abou, and I am of junior standing at UC Davis. I am currently on the pre-med track aspiring to attend medical school to become a physician. I am majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and am considering doing a minor as well. The purpose of this free response is to be able to participate in the learning of students' education. Knowledge is important, and I hope to bring that in the tutoring sessions to help students succeed in their classes.
I am a graduate from Santa Clara High School, a high school located in the bay area, but I have also been able to achieve my AA degree by the end of my high school years. I attended a Middle College Program that gave high school juniors and seniors the ability to attend community college while finishing up high school. Through hard work and self-determination, I was able to receive my degree.
I have had experience in teaching in the past. For about 6 years, I was a Sunday School teacher at my local mosque and I was a teacher's assistant for 2 years. Through the years, I learned that students learn in different ways and not all children are the same. I made it my duty to change my teaching style every now and again so that students that do not excel in one type of teaching style may excel in another. I want students to be comfortable and have fun while learning because that is the only way for them to attain knowledge. My most recent tutoring job was as a French tutor helping a student with the French language and improving their grammar.
I hope to have the opportunity to make a change in student's lives for the better by helping them learn. My goal is to not only be a tutor, but to be a mentor to those kids struggling at school for whatever reason. That way, there can be a change in that student and their focus on education is accomplished.
