My name is Lillian and I am a 4th year Biological Sciences/Chinese major at University of California, Davis. I held my first job at an after school program at George Peabody Elementary in San Francisco and have since enjoyed working with children and young adults. I have approximately 3 years of experience tutoring English, reading, writing, and biology. I tutor primarily in K-12 reading and writing, but am also experienced in tutoring SAT reading/writing and study skills. I am open to tutoring elementary-level students in all subjects areas. In addition to providing supplementary academic aid, I am happy to provide advice/guidance for high school students who are about to begin their college careers.
From personal experience, I understand that students vary as different types of learners. Before your students can learn from me and improve on their academics, I must first be able to learn from them and understand the way they process and apply information. My tutoring sessions are designed to encourage open discussions, to promote self-inspired critical thinking skills, as opposed to emulate classroom lectures and force rote memorization.
