I'm interested in tutoring English, History and Geography for all grades. I am currently a part-time college History professor.
My teaching philosophy is one that envisions learning as a tool for success. I think its important not for me to only complete your child's homework, but to help your child understand how to complete his/her homework alone. I will discuss the problematic concepts with your child and stimulate an intellectual environment.
I also believe that education should be creative and foster a sense of interest. Therefore, I always make sure and add flashcards or some other type of material that helps students grasp the concepts or in teaching California history do a mini mock debate where I'm the voice of the Indians and your child is the voice of the settlers to understand the larger trends in California history. Although writing a paper is a very independent process, I believe writing is a key component of success, because students must be able
to effectively communicate their analysis of primary documents through writing a paper. Therefore, I always review your child's rough drafts before he/she turns it in to his/her teacher and add detailed feedback on how to improve their writing capabilities.
