I have tutoring experience with 7 different students. I tutored writing, language arts, Algebra II, Geometry, and Pre-calculus to these students. I have also helped out my peers with their calculus and statistics college courses.
Although it seems like I have a large range of subjects I tutor, I specifically put down my ability to tutor math because it is something I truly enjoy. It is a notion that I wish to be able to transfer to my students, thus one of my personal goals is to help students truly comprehend the math conceptually. Of course I am also very concerned with my students' improvements grade-wise, and I was very excited to see my former math trainees succeed in doing so.
Another approach I have to tutoring I have is to befriend the students; be an encouraging peer to them. Through my own personal experience, being tutored isn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world. That's why I want to get to know my students, find out their interests, and incorporate them into my lessons. I have observed that in doing this, sometimes my students begin to develop a sense of wanting to take in more.
I am currently a Statistics major at UC Davis.
