Hi, my name is Jonathan and I am a recent graduate with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UC Davis. I’m offering my tutoring services in hopes of helping students reach their academic goals. I myself went through extensive tutoring for numerous subjects as a high school student.
Tutors are responsible for ensuring that students are able perform exceptionally on tests with the learned subject material. Tests are extremely important, as they are the basic means of assessing material knowledge. They become increasingly important as students progress through the education system, because tests become a significant portion of your overall grade (some classes even 100%). I believe the students with strong subject knowledge, good problem solving skills, and confidence excel on tests. My tutoring style is such that it helps students become independent and solve problems without the help of a tutor so that they can solve problems on tests. This helps students succeed not only now in the classes they are being tutored in, but also in the future.
My work history experience as a tutor started back in my senior year of high school, where I tutored for an after school program. From there, I received referrals as a private tutor for the summer before I started UC Davis. I continued tutoring during my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year for the UC Davis tutoring center, where I underwent professional training to ensure I gave my students the best quality of tutoring. I have accumulated well over 200 students, accounting for over 800 hours.
The subjects I excel in are math and chemistry. I've received A marks in those classes throughout college. Though other subjects are offered upon request.
My skills and experience have shaped me into a very well-rounded person. I am now working at one of the world’s largest biotech companies. I’m not just a tutor, but also a mentor. I aspire to help students reach the level of success that I did.
