Thank you for visiting my profile! My experience in working with students of a wide variety of ages, educational levels, and needs has helped me to become a versatile tutor and coach. Below are some examples of my tutoring experience:

- For 4 months I worked as a classroom counselor for middle school students with special needs (such as emotional disorders, dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and Asperger's syndrome). In this position I provided general classwork and homework help on a daily basis.

- For 4 months I took courses at UC Berkeley on science education and teaching methods. During this time, I volunteered in science classrooms to help middle and high school students with their classwork.

- For 4 months I volunteered at the UCLA Dashew center as an English conversation teacher for professionals from several countries in Asia.

- For the past two years I have tutored a child with dyslexia (currently 11 years old) in reading, writing, math, and science on a weekly basis.

- During my public health masters program (completed in December 2012), I tutored my classmates and others in biostatistics and statistical programming using SAS and STATA. I am also experienced in several other public health-related subjects.

- I achieved high scores on standardized tests such as the GRE and SAT, and am highly familiar with the test preparation process for these exams. I would also be glad to coach students through the process of college and graduate school applications.

I hope this provides you with a sample of the many types of tutoring I would be qualified for and glad to provide. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biostatistics

My prior experience and coursework for my Masters of Public Health at UCLA included: Biostatistics 100A, which covered descriptive measures, probability and distributions, estimation, tests of hypotheses, types of error, significance, confidence levels, sample size and power; Biostatistics 100B: which covered more advanced topics such as modeling relationships between two or more variables. Major concepts include contingency table analysis, simple and multiple linear regression, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and logistic regression; and Biostatistics 406: Applied multivariate analysis using SAS. I have also been the lead statistical analyst on a research paper for my masters thesis, for which I worked with a team of researchers at an HIV research center abroad to do secondary analyses.
