Anthony’s subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra is the study of the rules of operations and relations in variable math. The concepts include terms, polynomials, equations and algebraic structures.

I depend on algebra daily in my personal life and in my work as an engineer. It is essential that a solid foundation is built with this subject as students prepare for more challenging math concepts ahead. It also makes a world of difference in how you approach everyday problems from managing money to measuring ingredients in the kitchen.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 builds on the topics explored in Algebra 1. These topics include: real and imaginary numbers, inequalities, exponents, polynomials, equations, graphs, linear equations, functions and more.

For me, the skills gained in Algebra 2 were the very foundation of my study in Civil Engineering. I am able to make the real world connection between what is studied in the subject and how it applies outside of the classroom.

Geometry

Geometry is the study of shape, size, figures and properties of space. As a civil engineer, I have had extensive working knowledge of geometry concepts which I can use to help bring real-world application to the problems presented in this branch of math.

Prealgebra

The objective of pre-algebra is to prepare the student for the study of algebra.

Study Skills

I have helped develop study skills for elementary school children as a mentor. I have also worked with adults returning to school years later. As a software trainer in corporate America, I learned several different time management techniques, such as creating task list and project management techniques and how to evaluate priorities. My approach is to introduce a individualized, step-by-step learning/studying process to my students based on the skills I have learned.

Education

University of Missouri, Rolla (Civil Engineering)

Great Tutor Anthony is very patient and able to explain the concepts clearly. Anthony was able to answer my son's question-"When will I ever use this in real life?" He is able to make the lessons interesting. I was worried when Anthony moved to California, but the on-line tutoring has worked out well. Although my son still doesn't like math, he passed geometry. We plan to use Anthony again for Algebra 2. ...
