Bible Studies

I have a bachelor's degree from CSU Northridge in Religious Studies (graduated with honors.) I also grew up in a Christian home with intensive Bible study.

I taught Bible at Pilgrim Preparatory School in Los Angeles for one year. I was asked to teach Bible from a historical and literary perspective, not a devotional perspective.

Writing

Writing has been a favorite part of my life starting with my first project, which was to put together a book of my poems for my mother at the age of seven (and they were probably poems that only a mother could love!) However, since that time I have written and published articles, written web copy, tutored writing for SAT students, and worked with students of all ages on everything from whipping out five-paragraph essays to crafting careful essays for graduate school application packets.

My students learn how to organize their thoughts, write to a deadline and show that they are intelligent and well read in an essay. They also often learn to enjoy the writing process, although not always. . .it really is more fun to write when you take the steps in order and know what you are doing!

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
