First of all, let me tell you a bit about myself. I have worked in education for over 20 years. I have tutored, been a substitute teacher for multiple school districts, and have also worked as a school secretary. One of the most interesting jobs I ever held was that of an office manager for a Pasadena law firm. I held that job for several years before the owner of the firm retired. I enjoyed my time there, but I always tutored or taught as a second job during that time.
I have a great deal of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities. I have earned a Master's in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, which has aided me greatly in understanding student behaviors and learning styles. I have worked for over ten years as a Math and Reading tutor for students K - 12. I also worked as a tutor for college age studentsat Citrus Community College, where I was named Tutor of the Year in 2000. My strong points, if you wish to call them that, are a great sense of humor, patience, flexibility, and a passion for not only tutoring and teaching, but for WHAT I am teaching! I teach several subjects on many different levels and enjoy them all!
My BA is in history,I love to tutor students in history. But I am interested in so many different subjects! I love teaching math and have taught everything from basic recognition of numbers to all levels of Algebra. I also tutor Geometry and have some knowledge of Trigonometry as well. I enjoy many of the sciences, with Astronomy, Earth Science, and some Physics being my favorites. Literature, vocabulary (on all levels up to and including SAT Prep) and writing are also areas where I have much experience tutoring.
Both my experience and my enthusiasm make me a very productive tutor and I would like very much to continue this vocation by tutoring for Wyzant.
