Some associated coding tools I use include Ruby on Rails, SQL, CSS, CoffeeScript, Slim, Ember, Backbone, Mongoid/Mongo, and automated testing.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Flash

I have two years experience working with Adobe Flash and Actionscript 3.0. My primary reason for using Flash has been to create online games and game prototypes, as my career is focused on video game design and development. I know how to animate and create videos for the web in Flash, as well as more advanced stuff involving scripting. My recent work with Flash has been developing games and applications for Facebook. I'd be happy to share my knowledge of Flash and individuals or teams in completing projects in Flash.

JavaScript

I work a lot with JavaScript. I'm a full time web developer and use vanilla JS as well as MVC frameworks like Ember and Backbone. I originally studied JS as part of a 12-week course, and transitioned very easily having used ActionScript for several years. Since JS is a very error-prone language, I typically show my students how to use linters to encourage them to format their code cleanly. For my personal projects, I use CoffeeScript for efficiency. Most of my JS time is front-end, but sometimes I work with Node.
