I have more than 10 years of experience in teaching young kids from third grade up to university level in various areas such as writing, comprehension, math and science. While I was completing my undergraduate degree at UC Riverside, I also was an after school teacher working with kids in areas of reading, language arts, math and biological sciences.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of California Riverside and possess certificates in Leadership and Management from Rockhurst University.
In addition, I have just earned my MBA from the University of California Riverside with honors. I am also fluent in both Spanish and Farsi.
I am available Monday through Friday for tutoring. We can discuss the hours that would work best for you. I do have a two hour minimum tutoring policy but that is only for your benefit because most often, subject matters require a bit of "prep" work and I believe that is the time needed to understand core of the issues you may having and then we can dive and tackle the problem together. Believe me, your time will be well spent during those two hours.
I am patient, reliable and have two school age children of my own ages 8 and 11, so I have great knowledge of behaviors that may hinder kids to learn and love studying!
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the leadership program with you and to provide further information on my candidacy. I can be reached through WyzAnt.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you about this exciting opportunity.
I have taken Algebra I in High School with high marks and have tutored the course not only to my 8th grade son but several children ages 14 to 17.
In this course students will take a closer look at the organ systems, tissue structures, and whole bodies together with their cellular and structural components and dynamics. Includes instruction in cell biology and histology, structural biology, molecular mechanics, regional and gross anatomy, embryology, neuroanatomy, endocrinology and secretory dynamics, and applications to such topics as aging and disease conditions.
Part of my undergraduate course was anatomy and physiology. I also learned about brain and behavior at University of California Riverside where I obtained my Psychology degree.
General Biology is mainly designed to provide the fundamentals of biological science. Students will learn about the following topics while taking this course: general chemistry, biochemistry, cellular organization and function, cellular energetics, metabolism, genetics, heredity, biotechnology, the origin and evolution of living things, structure and life processes, vertebrate physiology and ecology.
I have taken Biology with high marks both in high school and 4 quarters worth at University of California Riverside, where I obtained my BA in Psychology.
I actually took a botany course at University of California Riverside during my undergraduate years and had the opportunity to get exposure to many different local plant species in Riverside County. Part of my study included learning about Plant genetics which is very different from that of animals in a few ways. Like mitochondria, chloroplasts have their own DNA, complicating pedigrees somewhat. Like animals, plants have somatic mutations regularly, but these mutations can contribute to the germ line with ease, since flowers develop at the ends of branches composed of somatic cells.
I have taken chemistry in high school at Lake Elsinore High and University of California Riverside during my undergraduate years.
Chemistry deals with the properties of matter, and the transformation and interactions of matter and energy. Central to chemistry is the interaction of one substance with another, such as in a chemical reaction, where a substance or substances are transformed into another. Chemistry primarily studies atoms and collections of atoms such as molecules, crystals or metals that make up ordinary matter.
During my undergraduates years at University of California Riverside, I also took a genetics course which included molecular genetics and Morgan's experiment of sex-linked inheritance of a mutation causing white eyes in Drosophila.
I tool geometry in high school and was so good at it that I actually tutored the course after-school for two years. The students that came to me improved their grades by two letter grades, one of those students was my very good friend who raised her grade from D to B+.
Geometry is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space. Did you know that Geometry is one of the oldest mathematical sciences? Well, by learning Geometry you will soon see how it affects the in the world around you, from baseball to theater lighting to space!
I entered the public speaking arena while studying at University of California Riverside. I actually joined the domestic peace corp teaching literacy to disadvantaged school aged children in Riverside County,CA.
While working as a volunteer after-school teacher, I became the spokeswoman for this program and was nominated as one of runners to meet President Clinton in the White House at the time. While I did not win the election I did become an avid advocate for the program and had spoken in many public arenas before Board of Mental Health, the Mayor of Riverside and even was asked to speak in several fundraising events in my community.
I tool history three quarters before graduating with my BA in Psychology. It was wonderful course and the professor was very good at breakdown the different wars, reasons for them and made everything crystal clear to me.
World history seeks a global perspective on the past, one that acknowledges and integrates the historical experiences of all of the world's people. Only by examining humanity's shared past is it possible to view today's world in meaningful historical context.
