Hello, my name is Bryan and I graduated from UC Berkeley in an advanced humanities major called Rhetoric--with an emphasis in Law and Politics. I love to read and write and I will aim to impart those same qualities to anyone willing to learn. My tutoring/mentoring experience encapsulates 4 years of work with preschoolers and a small degree of time spent teaching high school math and English in my last year of high school. As an added repertoire, I am greatly apt at teaching public speaking skills. I have had formal training in the art of communicating to small groups and would like to pass on those traits to you if that is of interest.

My tutoring style is simple. In order to do anything right, I make sure you understand the reasons for doing things. What this does is that it not only helps the process move more efficiently, but it allows you to memorize that process much quicker. Patience is what I strongly emphasize in every step of the process and it's a quality that I've possessed throughout all my tutoring endeavors. I encourage you to make "mistakes" because trying is the most important step to reach any goal. With that being said I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes and mindsets:

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bodybuilding

I began bodybuilding/focused exercising since I was in elementary school. I have gone and tried different types of workouts, ranging from being in the gym and home workouts like P90X and Winsor Pilates, as well as balance it out with track workouts and half-marathon training. The main point to consider when training someone is to take into account that person's goal and strengths and weaknesses in order to give them a long-lasting workout regimen/lifestyle.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored through various grade levels, from pre-k through high school. I have been trained in my undergrad to teach material at a more focused, i.e., student emphasized, way to maximize growth and enjoyment in each subject. My 4 years of in-class training and on-site implementation of those trainings, will prove to be a great asset to working with K-6th grade students.

Public Speaking

I have taken formal education in the art of public speaking as a requirement for my Paralegal Training at Heald College. I graduated from Heald with a degree in Paralegal A.A.S. With each course I took, I was required to do various presentations, as well as work with various individuals who partnered with me in certain class speeches. I graduated from UC Berkeley in an advanced humanities major called Rhetoric--with an emphasis in Law and Politics.

Study Skills

I have studied the skill of studying effectively since middle school. I was a very competitive student, which is why I was able to graduate 2nd in my class from high school and attend a prestigious university like, UC Berkeley. The focus of any types of study skills is to discontinue any bad habits when doing work and to instill new habits that the individual finds easy to do and to make it a consistent practice in any type of subject he/she will work on.

Track & Field

I have been participating in track in field since the 6th grade. With one year in JV and 2 years of Varsity track competition and training in high school, my experience level in increasing skill development and growth will surely show in the students I train. I continue to implement a variety of the training I obtained in my high school track career in my regular workouts as of this day.
