Hello to all,
I am a 28 year old female and I have been tutoring local students in the Bay Area for 10 years. I graduated from Saint Mary's College with a BA in English, the next year I completed my English credential. I have taught English and English as a second language (ESL) for 5 years at the high school level, grades 9-12. I have also completed my Masters degree in curriculum and instruction. Although my degrees are for advanced skills they do not limit my ability to work with younger students; many of my tutoring jobs began with younger children, covering all subject matter for elementary and junior high.
I have an eye for detail and am also good with art, layout, and design. I have been a straight A student all my life and expect quality work from my students. My goal is to teach students how to create the best work possible, paying attention to all details for neat, quality work. A personal strength of mine is creative writing and poetry.
I have worked closely with students with disabilities both as a tutor and as a classroom teacher. I also have experience teaching and preparing for the CAHSEE (high school exit exam) and SAT prep.
I am happy to say that I have been able to create a good rapport with my students over the years and have watched their skills improve greatly. I am somebody that has always enjoyed learning so a large part of my goal as a teacher is also to help students see school as an opportunity to learn and grow instead of a burden of homework and testing.
